Peer review process
Authors of the Peruvian Amazon Journal will receive notifications of manuscript receipt and editorial decisions by email.
All submissions to the Peruvian Amazon Journal undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure content quality. In the first stage, a technical editor verifies the manuscript's format and style to ensure compliance with the Peruvian Amazon Journal's guidelines for authors. If the authors have not complied with the guidelines for authors, the manuscript will be returned to the authors for compliance. The manuscript will then be assigned to section editors, based on the subject area and the decision of the responsible editor, for an expedited pre-review within 5 days. Section editors review the manuscript's content quality (with a focus on methodology, originality, and contribution to knowledge and practice). The decision at this stage is to quickly reject the manuscript, revise and resubmit it, or assign external reviewers for a detailed evaluation process. The selection of external reviewers is based on their scientific training and experience, previous work, and the authors' suggestions and experience. Every effort is made at Amazonía Peruana to obtain at least 2-3 solid reviews of each manuscript. The reviewer's reviewer comments are received by the reviewers and sent along with the decision letter to the corresponding author.
Amazonía Peruana adheres to a double-blind peer review process that is rapid, fair, and ensures the high quality of published articles. Reviewers at Amazonía Peruana must declare their conflicts of interest and maintain the confidentiality of the manuscripts they review.
As Amazonía Peruana is a rapid-response journal, the review process takes between 3 and 6 months.
The decision letter from Amazonía Peruana determines the status of the manuscript in three ways:
