Amazonian archaeology:
Ancient interactions between human societies and nature

This work presents some examples of landscape management based on different current ethnic groups and archaeological evidence. The main objective is to point out certain aspects of the environmental alteration dynamics carried out by current or pre-Columbian societies. The article attempts to reflect, through important works in the Amazon interconnected with archaeology, different strategies of landscape domestication by various groups and their achieved successes, as well as to present part of the current socio-political reality involving indigenous issues.
