Organization of Agricultural Labor in Riverine Communities of the Peruvian Jungle

This article analyzes cooperative labor in riverine (mestizo) communities located near Iquitos. It demonstrates how this “work with celebration” (labor exchange) continues to thrive despite the direct integration of the peasantry into the market economy.
