Este trabajo presenta algunos ejemplos de manejo del paisaje a partir de diferentes grupos étnicos actuales y evidencias arqueológicas. El principal objetivo es apuntar algunos aspectos de la dinámica de alteración del medio ambiente que sociedades actuales o pre-colombinas llevaron a cabo. El artículo intenta reflejar, a través de importantes trabajos en Amazonía interconectados a la arqueología, distintas estrategias de domesticación del paisaje por diferentes grupos y sus sucesos logrados, así como también presentar parte de la realidad socio-política actual, envolviendo cuestiones indígenas.
