Childbirth often does not appear in Amazonian ethnographies, and when it does, it is presented as a merely descriptive fact. In this article, based on interviews, testimonies, and participatory research, the author presents childbirth among the Yine of the Peruvian Amazon. The particularities of childbirth in this ethnic group, completely distinct from Western societies, are presented.
