Poder, ideología y rituales de producción en las sociedades indígenas amazónicas

Este artículo es un estudio comparativo que pretende demostrar que, en las configuraciones sociales shamánicas de la Amazonía, lo político no siempre está divorciado de lo económico. Sugiere que, en las sociedades en las cuales los shamanes son simultáneamente líderes políticos, su poder es de naturaleza económica. Se considera que sus conocimientos rituales son necesarios para los procesos reproductivos. Cuando esto no ocurre, el rol político es desempeñado por sacerdotes, o por jefes guerreros que, de alguna manera, están relacionados con los aspectos simbólicos de los procesos reproductivos sociales y naturales.
