Poder, Ideologia e Rituais de Produção nas Sociedades Indígenas Amazônicas

Este artigo é um estudo comparativo que pretende demonstrar que, nas configurações sociais xamânicas da Amazônia, o âmbito político nem sempre está separado do econômico. Sugere que, nas sociedades em que os xamãs são simultaneamente líderes políticos, seu poder é de natureza econômica. Considera-se que seus conhecimentos rituais são necessários para os processos reprodutivos. Quando isso não ocorre, o papel político é desempenhado por sacerdotes ou por chefes guerreiros que, de alguma maneira, estão relacionados aos aspectos simbólicos dos processos reprodutivos sociais e naturais.
