Abstract

Within the broader framework of meaning-making in social relations, this article introduces us to the specific gender and kinship system of the Aguaruna and, from a gender perspective, analyzes aspects related to kinship and marriage in this North Amazonian society. In response to this issue, the author employs an “actor-oriented approach,” in which the differentiation of gender interests emphasizes women’s creative role, as well as their importance in development work.
