Traditional medical knowledge and practices of the settler population settled along the Puerto Maldonado-Mazuko highway

Abstract

This study details how the settler population of that area manages a complex set of knowledge, practices, and ideologies regarding health and illness, in which elements of jungle medical herbalism, Andean medical herbalism, medicinal fauna, patent medicines, magical-religious rituals, cartomancy, and others are intermingled.
