The Nature of Development: Indigenous Peoples and Settlers in the Gran Pajonal

In recent times, the strategy known as “sustainable development” has been developed, closely linking the concepts of nature and development. This article compares the concepts of nature held by the Asháninka and Andean settlers living in the Gran Pajonal plateau. These conceptualizations, diametrically opposed to one another, are discussed in relation to the development of an updated “international development strategy.”
