Abstract

This article aims to recognize visual literacy as an important strategy for valuing the mythical narratives of the Asháninka oral tradition and highlighting their significance as a means of transmitting values, ideas, and customs within communities. Through the mythical stories and narratives shared by Asháninka elders, which are passed down to parents and, in turn, to their children, an exchange of knowledge takes place that makes it possible to identify what lies behind and around an image. Thus, audiovisual literacy seeks to promote reading habits in communities through the images and stories associated with them, raising awareness among adults, young people, adolescents, and, above all, the children of the Asháninka people of the Central Rainforest.
