Transformações na Amazônia: Status, Gênero e Mudança entre os Asháninka

Os efeitos negativos sobre os povos indígenas da Amazônia de forças controladas externamente, como a construção de estradas, o desmatamento e a colonização, têm sido denunciados por pesquisadores e pela imprensa popular, mas pouca atenção tem sido dada às mudanças nas relações de gênero e no status (posição social) das mulheres como resultado desse processo de transformação cultural. Esse processo entre os Asháninka da floresta tropical úmida do Peru é examinado ao longo dos últimos vinte anos, considerando os estudos relevantes e os acontecimentos políticos regionais.
