Sara Castro-Klarén estuda de que maneira no romance "El Hablador" (O Falador) de Mario Vargas Llosa critica-se a configuração do indígena como sujeito nacional na escrita etnográfica indigenista. Segundo Castro-Klarén, essa crítica é incoerente por partir de um paradoxo no qual se questiona a carga ideológica da etnografia e se considera que o romance, por ser um produto estético, é uma escrita ideologicamente livre.
