Policy on Best Publishing Practices

Publication Ethics

Amazonía Peruana adheres to and promotes ethical publishing practices. It provides guidelines on conflicts of interest, ethical commitment, and the detection of similarities.

Commitment to Ethics

Amazonía Peruana adheres to international ethical standards and codes established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (Code of Conduct and Best Practices Guidelines for Journal Editors, COPE) and the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) to ensure the authenticity of publications and the quality of the editorial process. Furthermore, it draws inspiration from the principles of transparency and best practices of the Open Access Scholarly Publishing Association (OASPA). It also endorses the ethical commitment of all parties involved in the management and publication of articles. To this end, the journal relies on the Publication Ethics Resource Kit (PERK), which suggests appropriate protocols to address the roles and needs of authors, readers, reviewers, and editorial team members involved in the editorial process.

On Unethical Conduct

Anyone may report unethical conduct to the editor. The journal will give due consideration to any complaint, regardless of when the original article was published. Allegations must be supported by evidence in order for an investigation to be initiated. All complaints and allegations of unethical conduct or misconduct will be taken with the utmost seriousness.
Amazonía Peruana opposes any form of manipulation that leads to fraud, such as the purchase of authorship or manuscripts, the sale of authorship or manuscripts, or the substitution of authors and manuscripts. In the event of such manipulations, the Editorial Board will contact the relevant offices of the rector or vice rector of the institution to which the authors belong.

Similarity Detection

The journal uses Cross iThenticate for plagiarism detection. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited, and manuscripts found to contain plagiarism will be rejected or not published. Authors guarantee that their work and any related materials are original and do not infringe on anyone’s copyright. Furthermore, authors confirm that the manuscript has not been previously submitted or published and certify that the manuscript has been approved by all authors. If plagiarism or any other ethical violation is detected in the manuscript, it will be returned to the authors, who will be warned and notified of the violation. The Editorial Board will send a formal notice.

The journal Amazonía Peruana defines plagiarism as the appropriation of ideas, methodologies, results, conclusions, excerpts, or texts from other individuals or researchers without providing the appropriate credit. Similarly, it defines plagiarism as any act of dishonesty or fraud in publication. Furthermore, it considers the fabrication of results and data, the manipulation of information, and any procedure that alters data or results —as well as the omission or modification of such data or results— to constitute misconduct.

In the event that the journal receives a report of plagiarism or detects it, it will take the following detailed steps: 1) The Editorial Board will investigate and verify whether there are any detected similarities using the Cross iThenticate software; 2) The Editorial Board will contact the authors and notify them of the similarity report, as well as their compliance with the codes of ethics and originality; 3) The authors have a maximum of fifteen (15) days to address the findings or observations and submit their appeal to the Editorial Board; 4) The Editorial Board has a maximum of fifteen (15) days to evaluate the appeal; it will then contact the authors to inform them of the decision. If the appeal is accepted, the publication process continues. If the appeal is rejected, the publication process is halted. The Editorial Board is obligated to retract any manuscript that has been previously published, even in another language.

Conflict of Interest

The Editorial Board, the authors, and the reviewers declare that they adhere to ethical research principles and are free from any conflict of interest. Authors shall disclose any funding related to their research, if applicable. Authors shall indicate the contribution of each author (full names) to the submitted work.

Disclaimer

The content of the articles is the responsibility of the authors and does not reflect the position or opinion of the editorial team. Manuscripts that are not accepted will be returned to their authors. Illustrations not created by the author must indicate their source. The journal assumes that the authors have requested and obtained the necessary reproduction permissions and is not liable for the unauthorized use of illustrations or for any legal consequences arising from intellectual property rights infringement.

Guidelines on Publication and Prior Research Records

Amazonía peruana is committed to open science practices. It informs authors about the publication of data in various repositories.

Archiving

This journal uses the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archive among participating libraries, allowing those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for preservation and restoration purposes.

Publication and Ethics Policies

The responsibilities and rights of the editors, reviewers, and authors of Amazonía peruana are in accordance with the COPE Statement.
